An emergency plumbing bill has two parts: the emergency fee and the repair. Here's how each one works, and when emergency service is worth it. We price repairs for your job and don't publish market prices.
What makes up the bill?
| Part | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Emergency fee | Outside regular hours, emergency service requires a $250 upfront emergency fee. When paid, the standard $49 service fee is waived. During regular hours there is no emergency fee. |
| Standard service call | For a regular visit, our $49 service call covers the trip and is waived if you go ahead with the work. Tracking down a problem that can't be seen is a separate diagnostic fee. |
| The repair | Additional repairs are quoted before work begins. Written upfront flat-rate pricing options. You choose. |
What changes the repair price?
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| What failed | Replacing a split supply line is a smaller job than replacing a burst section of pipe inside a finished ceiling. |
| Access | Pipes behind finished walls, under slabs or in tight crawl spaces take longer to reach. |
| Parts | A failed water heater needs a new heater. A stuck shut-off valve needs a new valve. |
| Damage already done | If water has run for hours, there may be more to repair than the original leak. |
Is emergency service worth it?
If water is spreading and you can't stop it, sewage is coming up a drain, or you have no water and someone in the home can't do without it overnight, waiting can cost more in damage than the fee. A dripping faucet, a slow drain or a running toilet can wait for a regular visit. Call and ask; we'll tell you what we think.
How to keep the cost down
- Know where your main shut-off valve is. Closing it fast limits water damage more than anything else.
- Shut the water off before you call, if you can do it safely. Every minute it runs adds to the cleanup.
- Fix small leaks early. A slow drip under a sink costs less on a weekday afternoon than at 2 a.m. after the fitting lets go.
